2002 East Coast Tour

I WAS BORN WITH TWO TONGUES is a breakthrough Pan-Asian American spoken word group based out of Chicago. First, hitting us hard with BROKEN SPEAK (review on this site), they went on to team up with The Pacifics, a Pilipino spoken word group also based out of Chicago, to create and present YELLOW TECHNICOLOR.

I WAS BORN WITH TWO TONGUES expresses and represents a new generation of Asian Pacific Islanders. POWERFUL pieces on all aspects of the API experience are presented passionately and eloquently: there is something for everyone.

I joined 400 API youth at Pomona College on November 16, 2001 to experience Yellow Technicolor. As Daren Mooko had promised, it was AMAZING. In a standing room only auditorium, people were up out of their seats: dancing, clapping, and screaming. My favorite piece: "Excuse Me America" was done by Anida. PEACE FAMILY

In these crucial times, we wish especially for all y'all to be safe from harm, protected from the storm, and mindful..We grieve and mourn for those lost, and fear for those still in danger. We plead and pray for peace, for an end to war..An end to the misery begun by the attacks in NYC, an end to the racist scapegoating of our Arab American brothers and sisters, an end to the mindset of blind patriotism and retaliation that threatens to bring us more needless bloodshed. And not just this, but an end to the conditions that birthed these tragedies..An end to oppressive U.S. foreign policy that turns the lives of women and children worldwide into a chess game..An end to the condition of ignorance that makes us blind to the suffering of Others..An end to the violence that rots us from the inside out. No More War. No More War. No More War.

"Our Grief is Not a Cry for War!"
