The Struggle for All Queer-Identified People Continues

2005

The world's number one imperialist leader and war criminal has been officially inaugurated into his second term of bogus presidency. Under George W. Bush, we have survived already four dire years of warmongering, rapidly dilapidating social services, lies, death, and arrogance.  We have seen attacks on our communities rise locally, through immigrant scapegoating and the loss of hundreds of Filipino airport screeners' jobs to the breaking of silence and the horrendous tortures conducted by US military personnel to political prisoners at Abu Ghraib.  We have seen the terrorist listing of legitimate people's struggles and personalities like Prof. Jose Maria Sison and the continued military support to back fascist, anti-people, puppet regimes like Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to persecute and assassinate the revolutionary people's forces in the Philippines.

Here in America, lesbian, gay, transgender, transsexual, bisexual, intersexed, and queer-identified people have seen Bush work fervently at "defending marriage" at the cost of denying at least a million Americans the basic right to legally recognize marriage.  By granting same-sex marriage, Bush infers it would be "weakening the good influence on society." In other words, he implies that straight, white Christian people must be exclusive in maintaining international law and civil rights.

The case of Donita Ganzon and Jiffy Javanella is a prime example of imperialist oppressors engaging in US domestic social warfare against the rights of their own citizens. Donita Ganzon underwent a sex change operation in the early 1980s. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is now using this against her attempt to petition for her husband, Jiffy Javanella, for a green card. DHS does not recognize the reassignment of sex, which translates into meaning they do not recognize a couple if one or both of them are trassexuals. This is an outright vicious  discriminatory act against the couple, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders, transsexuals and intersexed and queer-identified people. This concludes that the DHS acts in service to support national and international imperialist policies, regardless of disrupting the lives of innocent people.

We, LGBTQI Filipinos living in America, struggling for the national democratic liberation of the Philippines and for all oppressed people's, stand in solidarity with the peoples of the world in protest against the inauguration of this blatant war criminal and the entire bogus Bush regime.  We see the mask of lies and doubletalk he wears like a shield to disguise his homophobia. We say NO MORE YEARS! Long Live International Solidarity! The people UNITED will never be defeated!  Isulong ang pambansang demokratikong pakikibaka ng pilipinas!
