Mass Pike Development Temporarily Stopped (2 of 2)

In a meeting on April 12, the BRA presented to the residents of Mass Pike Trinity's new proposal which was worse than the first. The new proposal had twenty-five stories opposed to the originally proposed thirteen stories. The unit would have forty units of reduced housing and parking space for twelve units.

Residents brought seven requests to the table including allowing the current residents of Mass Pike Towers to move into the new building. Residents also wanted more parking and current Chinatown residents to be able to buy the new housing. The Boston Redevlpment Authority oonly agreed to the residents' request to change the name of the new development so it had no relation to the current Mass Pike Towers. Serene Wong, a resident and staff member of the Chinese Progressive Association, called the new proposal "dissapointing." The next meeting is scheduled for May 10th.

The struggle continues.
