Making up for lost time, Asian American and Asian Pacific Islander organizations have been working on turning out their communities more visibly around immigrant rights issues.

In Boston, Chinese Progressive Association and API Movement joined marchers from East Boston to Chelsea.

In Oakland, API Movement organized marchers for a Oakland Sin Fronteras - Oakland without Borders - march, focusing on recent arrests in Bay Area taquerias.

In Los Angles, KIWA, the Pilipino Workers Center and other groups united to show that immigration issues cut across communities.

One important development this year was that Longshore workers shut down West Coast ports all day to protest the war and call for immigrant rights.
