When the casino games are entirely random, usually attract many more players. This is the case of slot machines, which fill the rooms in rows with their lights and sounds, making users form to use them. However, there is another playful game that keeps an important amount of fans: the dice.

The bets that are made with this pair of cubes are diverse and, to win, just enough to say a number and cross fingers waiting for it to come out. The particular favoritism for these games is that they play “against the house”; and nothing encourages a player more than knowing that he is an opponent of the games site.

This game, which goes back to medieval times and was later refined by the influence of the first French casinos, is full of history and personality. When he arrived in the United States, it was the cradle of New Orleans that gave him the touch that was needed and that now is played long and wide in North America and in most casinos around the world.

The methodology of the game is incredibly simple. At each table, there is a player who is selected as the shooter. In the first round – “pass shot” -, each member must get a seven or eleven in the combination of both dice to be considered the winner. If they get a two or three, or twelve, they’re out of the game.

With the exception of those numbers, with the rest of the combinations they can go ahead, making bets that, round after round, they change their conditions. Therefore, playing with cunning and determination is one of the most infallible methods when dealing with dice.

All the conditions will change according to the game, the table and the rules of this. When there are several opponents, it is more likely that the bets turn more depending on winning and that, for some, the rest is irrelevant.

However, the dice are a system of probabilities -of a lot of statistics and little mathematics-, which has allowed many strategists to devise no less than three methods described as “infallible” when it comes to playing dice. This can turn experience, as well as fun, into a profitable and lucrative form of play.

Method 1: Odds in the dice

Everything is done by calculations; and this is probably the reason why many players prefer to do everything without voice or vote, appealing only to chance and “the luck with which they were born”. The truth, for those who take this game more seriously, is that statistics have managed to save the skin of many when they are on the verge of bankruptcy.

If it is the first round, the possibilities of taking a seven or eleven are evaluated – only combinations that can be successful. It’s time for the player to think about the combinations that add up to 7; that is, a 1-6, 3-4 and 2-5. In percent, this is a seventeen percent chance, while by probability there are only six out of thirty-six opportunities to obtain that number.

The thing is more complicated with the eleven because a single combination is able to get it (yes, indeed, 6-5). Multiplied by the two dice, the opportunity is doubled, but both in percentage and opportunity continues to border on the minimum.

After that comes the bet of the six and eight. This selection includes those numbers that are not potential winners or losers. In a row, they comprise from 4 to 10 (omitting seven and eleven). Therefore, there is a greater possibility of getting a combination that approaches these numbers more than anything.

It is spoken of a bet of six and eight because, in probability, these are those that more are obtained when throwing the dice. That information may be irrelevant to some, but for the rest – if they know how to make smart use of it, it may be the million dollar strategy.

The enemy numbers in the dice are one, two, three and twelve. Who gets them, at least on the pass line, loses the game.

Method 2: The probability and the dice

As mentioned above, statistical logic is an allied maxim for playing dice and, as a starting point, knowing combinations is a good way for players not to feel like fish out of water. So, that the opportunities in this game vary according to the number of games and throws.

The dice are crawling objects, although entertaining as they cannot. While people are filled with excitement between round and round, many times they are unaware that, in general, they have one of six opportunities to win and five of six to lose. Therefore, it is said that chance is everything and strategy nothing in this game.

However, this method is designed not as a magic formula, but as an orientation guide so that the dice fans can structure a logical probability inside their heads and bet according to what they know.

In the dice, the amount of this increases or reduces the probability percentage, look from where you look. However, the more dice the game involves, the smaller the chances of getting a number or a certain combination that contributes to the win.

However, to avoid the entire burden, it is worth generalizing that most tables use two dice. Therefore, the odds players must draw based on the combination of both.

For example, there are three combinations that make up most of the numbers, but what many players do is multiply each by two (the amount of dice), and so immediately calculate what opportunities they draw against the house.

Method 3: the odds of Yahtzee

If calculating the odds with two and three dice is already a challenge in itself, the Yahtzee quintuple it by working with five dice to set the bets. However, there are ways to carry it out and they are below.

First, the faces of the five dice must be multiplied. If each one has six faces, the operation is done by the amount of dice there are. In this case, it would be a repetition of five that gives the result of 7776. This is the basis for calculating the probability, and the way of deciding to tempt which moves agree or disagree.

For example, the most desired combinations in Yahtzee have just a six out of 7776 opportunities to obtain them. However, there are 7056/7776 occasions in which they can go even. Therefore, go for low numbers in this game is condemned before trying.

It may sound discouraging when players hear that they barely have a 0.1% chance of winning, but by getting used to this, they will bet more intelligently.

On average, many experienced commentators on the Yahtzee feel that the most rewarding way to play it is to keep the house full. Progressively, this increases that minimum rate to 3.9%. However, for those less familiar with the game, the win is more likely if you take easy points that serve as a stimulant when conditions are in favor.
